<br><br>Ksenia Borisovna Egiz (nee Coyle; 1854, Simferopol – 1937, ibid.) – social and cultural Karaite figure in the field of education, founder and head of a private 3rd category elementary school in Simferopol.<br><br>The first Karaite woman in Simferopol, who graduated from six classes of the and passed the exam for the title of home teacher at the male gymnasium.<br>Awards<br>The Karaites highly appreciated their teacher: they repeatedly arranged solemn for her. On the days of the anniversaries, the Karaite communities of Simferopol and Yevpatoria presented her with mementos:<br>in honor of the 20th anniversary of teaching, they presented her with a diamond brooch;in honor of the 25th anniversary – a gold badge studded with diamonds;in honor of the 35th anniversary, they presented a gratitude address and a gold medallion, studded with precious stones.<br>For 35 years of useful activity in the field of public education by the Ministry of Education, Ksenia Borisovna was awarded a gold medal and an increased pension in the amount of 49 rubles 42 kopecks per month.<br>Social and cultural activities<br>Until the end of her days, Ksenia Borisovna took part in Karaite public affairs, being until 1925 a member of the board of the Simferopol Karaite community, and in 1925-1931.
