New Plymouth (English New Plymouth) is a city in Peyette County, Idaho, USA.
Story
Unlike many other cities, New Plymouth was planned long before the construction of its first home, located many hundreds of kilometers away in Chicago. The founder of the city is William Smith (William E. Smyth), of the Executive Committee of the National Irrigation Congress (eng. National Irrigation Congress). Back in 1895, with life in Chicago, he organized the „Plymouth Chicago Society». He gathered around him people who were ready to go west and found a new settlement. The place itself and the name for it Smith has already determined: the new city will be located in the western part of Idaho, in the Peyette Valley, next to the river of the same name, and will be named after the city of Plymouth in Massachusetts.

In February 1896, each of the colonists bought 20 shares at a price of $ 30 apiece, which allowed them to buy out a piece of land with an area of just under 81,000 m² per person. The place for the settlement was cleared of lush thickets of wormwood, fruit trees, mainly apple trees, were planted. According to the plan, the settlement, called New Plymouth Farm Village (Russian Farming Village New Plymouth), was shaped like a horseshoe, with its open part facing north towards the Peyette River.

The city is crossed by the US 30 federal highway. The city’s two main streets, separated by a park about 24 meters wide, also curve in a horseshoe shape and run through the entire city – their length is about 1.6 km.

In 1908, the settlement received the status of a village, and the last two words of the long name were discarded as unnecessary clarification; in 1948 New Plymouth received city status (city).

The County Fair is held annually in New Plymouth.
